Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to work in a new integrated Data Lab team to be formed with in the development department. This team will be responsible for the creation of a new cloud-based Data-as-a-Service infrastructure on AWS to support a growing number and variety of reporting and analytical needs. 

These needs include but are not limited to "canned" reporting, and machine learning. The Data Engineer role will take the lead in the design and development of this infrastructure.

As an important member of the Data Team, you will:

· Work with the Data Lab team to develop and maintain data architecture, data modelling and data governance standards

· Develop and maintain the technical infrastructure of the data warehouse

· Work with the Data Lab team to design data ingestion patterns and processes, including streaming and batch operations

· Work with DevOps and CloudOps teams to deploy the data warehouse infrastructure on AWS cloud environments

Qualifications

To be considered for this role you will need to evidence practical experience of:

· 5+ years of SQL development in a structured development environment

· A strong understanding of relational database products, such as MySQL

· A strong understanding of data modelling principles and standards, for applications and analytics

· Developing and maintaining production data architectures for bulk, stream and transactional data ingestion and processing

· AWS storage and database products

· Big Data technology stacks, such as Hadoop

· Driving the direction of data analytics development

· Strong experience with agile, sprint-based development

· Testing and debugging code

Additional Information

Experience or exposure to the following is also desirable:

· Understanding of graph concepts

· Understanding and experience of NoSQL, time series and graph databases

· Experience with data processing frameworks, such as Spark

· Good understanding of DevOps processes and how they apply to the data domain

· Good understanding of cloud-based technologies (ideally AWS)

· Experience with BI/reporting tools
