Postdoctoral Researcher- PEM Fuel cell and Electrolyzer
- Full-time
Company Description
Job Location: Hydrogen Research Institute-UQTR
Job Description
We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in electrochemical energy conversion with a major interest in electrochemistry and PEM water electrolyser. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or allied branches, with a unique profile to work on the project focusing on the development, design, and characterization of porous transport layer (PTL) for PEM water electrolysers.
· Design strategy for developing corrosion-resistant porous transport layer (PTL) for effective gas product removal.
· Implement thin-film and electroplating techniques for inducing a protective layer for corrosion protection of the PTL.
· Perform electrochemical characterizations, AST, and other most-mortem analyses of the PTL and electrolyser components.
· Analysis and communication of the obtained experimental data.
· Active participation in the training, monitoring, and supervision of students.
· Participate in group meetings and provide an update on work progress.
· Lab management and co-ordinating with Ph.D. students and Postdocs.
· Close collaboration with the university and an industrial partner.
· Writing papers and patents and presenting the results at conferences.
· Writing progress reports
Qualifications
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
· Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science.
· In-depth knowledge of thin-film deposition and electroplating.
· Experience in flow through porous media, two-phase flow, and mass transfer in the perspective of a PEM water electrolyser is required.
· Solid knowledge of the porous transport layer and components of the PEM water electrolyzer.
· Experience in accelerated stress testing (AST) of the PEM water electrolyser for studying the degradation mechanisms.
· Strong material characterization skills (SEM, TEM, XRD, XRF, FTIR, XPS, etc.).
· Extensive experience with electrochemical diagnostic methods (EIS, CV, LSV, etc.).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by a substantial publication and conference presentation record.
· Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proven ability to work quickly and reliably while under pressure.
· The candidate should possess skills to work independently, collaborate, and work as a team.
