Job Description

Reports To: Truss General Manager

Direct Reports: Production Team

FLSA Status: Exempt

Purpose

To lead the production team in manufacturing of trusses, wall panels and floors in a safe and efficient manner, aligning with company culture, business goals and objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Support and communicate our defined company values
  2. Develop and maintain high standards of safety, quality and service

  3. Provide sound leadership, coaching mentoring and direction for employee development, morale improvement and staff organization

  4. Determine efficient production schedules to ensure lead times are met

  5. Analyze strengths and weaknesses of production team and place them in best suited position to maximize production and minimize operating expenses

  6. Manage inventory accuracy

Responsibilities

  1. Communicate effectively with internal customers to contribute to continuous, positive flow of information between departments
  2. Verify that production equipment is used and maintained properly

  3. Continuously improve on eliminating repairs caused by production team mistakes and develop preventive measures to ensure quality products

  4. Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures

  5. Conduct periodic safety meetings, walkthroughs and training

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of truss/panel design, assembly and shipment preparation
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and solve problems in a timely manner

  • Working knowledge of Industrial Safety and OSHA Regulations

  • Knowledge of lumber grades and quality

  • Familiar with inventory management

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Experience

  • Proven success managing production in a Component shop to include trusses, wall panels and floors
  • Strong Lean, Six Sigma and 5S experience

  • Experience in training, budgeting, time management and human relations

  • Experience working in multicultural environments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or relevant work experience in the wood component industry
