Job Description

Position Name: Site Acquisition Manager

Division / Function:  Marketing & Communications

Location of the Job: Abuja, Nigeria

Reports to: Assistant Manager, GIS, and Site Acquisition

Job Category: Contract (6 months) renewable based on satisfactory performance.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Communication Tower or Minigrid Site Acquisition Manager with at least 5 years of experience in telecom infrastructure deployment, focusing on rural tower site acquisition. This role requires a strategic leader capable of driving the identification, negotiation, and acquisition of prime sites for minigrid projects. The individual will be instrumental in leading stakeholder engagement across various levels in regions where Husk is active or plans to expand. The position is vital in broadening our network presence in rural areas and ensuring the seamless integration of new sites into our operations portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Site Acquisition

  • Lead the process of identifying and securing mini-grid locations in rural areas across Nigeria.
  • Develop strategies to identify and prioritize communities suitable for minigrid projects.
  • Oversee the end-to-end site acquisition process, from identifying potential sites to finalizing exclusivity agreements with communities.
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to foster positive relationships and mitigate potential conflicts.
  • Mentor and manage a team of Site Acquisition Officers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful execution of site acquisition strategies.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to Senior Management on site acquisition progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain an active database of the minutes and pictures of all community engagement meetings and relevant agreement documentation at the point of acquiring a site.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and active database of all key stakeholders in both existing and newly acquired communities.
  • Provide relevant support for the Security Coordinator in documenting possible security insights gathered during site acquisition exercises.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Support in ensuring timely registration and submission of documentation for relevant regulatory permits with regulators and other government stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge in identifying and acquiring rural tower sites for a telecom infrastructure company and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
  • Must have a solid knowledge on GIS 
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate challenges and find innovative solutions.
  • Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel extensively to rural and remote areas as required by the job.

Location and Travel

This role is based in Abuja, Nigeria. Frequent travel for Site Identification and Scoping activities is required.
