We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer with strong problem-solving skills and experience in facility maintenance to ensure our leisure facilities remain safe, functional, and presented to a high standard.
The Maintenance Officer contributes to the delivery of high-quality aquatic and recreation experiences for the Hume community by performing maintenance works, coordinating minor repairs, supporting contractors, and maintaining facility assets across Hume Leisure sites. This role includes access to a company vehicle to support operational requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Perform a broad range of facility maintenance tasks including carpentry, painting, plastering, tiling, repairs, and general maintenance works to ensure Hume Leisure facilities remain safe, functional, and well presented
- Respond to maintenance requests and facility issues in a timely manner, prioritising works based on operational impact, safety requirements, and customer experience.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset information, work schedules, and administrative documentation to support the effective delivery of maintenance services across Hume Leisure facilities.
- Assist with the coordination and monitoring of contractors, including obtaining quotes, maintaining contractor compliance documentation, and ensuring works are completed safely and to the required standard.
- Complete maintenance-related documentation including SWMS, JSA, Permit to Work, purchase orders, invoices, and service requests in accordance with Council requirements.
- Support the Team Leader Maintenance and Presentation in planning, scheduling, and monitoring routine and reactive maintenance activities across multiple leisure facilities.
- Assist in maintaining facility assets, equipment, fixtures, fittings, and furniture to maximise asset life, minimise downtime, and provide safe environments for staff and patrons.
- Follow all Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to a safe workplace by identifying hazards, implementing risk controls, and maintaining safe work practices.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance, building repairs, or a relevant trade background including carpentry, painting, plastering, tiling, and general maintenance works.
- Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, public safety requirements, and safe work practices within public facilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify maintenance issues, determine appropriate solutions, and complete repairs efficiently.
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers, including coordinating maintenance works and monitoring outcomes.
- Well-developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, prioritise workloads, and manage multiple tasks.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and other maintenance tracking systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and facility users.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Trade qualification, maintenance qualification, or demonstrated experience, skills, and knowledge in facility maintenance.
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
- Current Employee Working with Children Check.
- Current Driver's Licence.
