Job Description
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and Manage Projects: Oversee engineering projects from start to finish, including preparing scopes of work and budgets.
- Technical Excellence: Prepare comprehensive studies, reports, design documents, plans, and specifications for water resources projects. Complete permit documents for Federal and State Agencies.
- Public Engagement: Present your innovative recommendations to city councils, watershed authorities, and county boards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects meet HEI’s high-quality standards through rigorous QA/QC reviews.
- Travel: Occasional travel throughout the state for project meetings and management activities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
- IA Professional Engineer License (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the water resources engineering field.
- Exceptional communication skills: ability to communicate with team members, client groups, and public.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Working with municipalities and/or Watershed Management organizations.
- Utilization of urban stormwater, hydrology, and/or hydraulic modeling for engineering studies and design.
- Design of best management practices (BMPs) for flood reduction and/or water quality improvement of urban stormwater and/or agricultural runoff.
- Experience as a Project Manager developing project work scopes based on client needs, managing and successful completion of projects within the prescribed budget and schedule.
- Ideal candidates will have the talent and desire to build client relationships and serve as Client Manager for multiple entities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
