We are currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Des Moines, IA.
Job Description
- Manage and lead engineering projects, including preparation scopes of work and associated budgets.
- Perform project management duties, including leading a team and communicating with clients.
- Prepare studies, reports, design documents, plans and specifications for water resources projects.
- Present recommendations to city councils, watershed authorities, and/or county boards.
- Review for Quality Assurance and Quality Control and ensure compliance with HEI quality standards.
- Prepare permit reports and complete permit documents for Federal and State Agencies.
- Successful business development efforts to expand HEI presences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field.
- IA Professional Engineer License (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the water resources engineering field.
- Demonstrated experience working with municipalities and/or Watershed Management authorities.
- Demonstrated experience with utilization of urban stormwater, hydrology, and/or hydraulic modeling for engineering studies and design.
- Understanding of water quality issues related to stormwater and/or agricultural runoff.
- A proven track record of building client relationships and acting as Client Manager.
- Experience as a Project Manager developing project work scopes based on client needs, managing and successful completion of projects within the prescribed budget and schedule.
- Exceptional communication skills: ability to communicate with team members, client groups, and public.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Authorization to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future is required.
Likely project areas include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm water planning, and water resource design projects. Candidate must be willing to travel throughout the state for project meetings and project management related activities on occasion.
