Job Description
As a Construction Project Manager & YouthBuild Trainer at the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS), you will play a dual role in overseeing construction projects related to housing development and providing hands-on construction training to YouthBuild participants. Your responsibilities will include managing construction projects, coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mentoring young adults to develop basic construction skills.
Responsibilities:
Construction Project Management:
- Develop comprehensive project plans for housing development and improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure project execution aligns with specifications.
- Monitor project costs, track expenses, and maintain adherence to budgets.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards, including permits and licenses.
- Establish and implement quality control measures to ensure construction work meets required standards.
- Identify and assess potential project risks, developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Lead project teams, providing guidance, direction, and support.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare status reports.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders for effective communication and collaboration.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance project outcomes.
YouthBuild Training:
- Assist in teaching various construction skills to YouthBuild participants.
- Provide personal and vocational counseling, focusing on leadership development.
- Evaluate student knowledge and skills in construction, contributing to project-based curriculum development.
- Oversee construction site safety, interface with subcontractors, and ensure safe production.
- Teach proper use and handling of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Assist in overall safety enforcement and material procurement.
- Keep track of tools and equipment usage on a daily basis.
- Attend staff meetings and coordinate plans with other YouthBuild staff.
- Act as a mentor to YouthBuild trainees each program cycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field. Relevant certifications and licenses are a plus.
- Proven experience in construction project management, preferably in the housing or real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- High school education with Journeyman/Journeywoman-level building trades experience.
- Seven years of overall construction experience and some experience in training others.
- Knowledge of basic codes for the city or town.
- Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in reorienting their lives and building leadership skills.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
