Job Description
The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is looking to staff the Senior Digital Product Developer position.
The Senior Digital Product Developer is responsible for designing and implementing audiovisual and multimedia solutions that enable the capture, distribution, broadcasting, and streaming of parliamentary events. In this role, the incumbent provides specialized client services by working closely with staff and stakeholders to understand specific business needs within their area of expertise. They develop digital products and solutions that prioritize reliability, security, scalability, and flexibility, while aligning with organizational objectives.
The Senior Digital Product Developer collaborates with colleagues in broadcasting and IM/IT to identify and select appropriate technologies, ensuring system-wide compatibility and interoperability of hardware and software components. The role involves contributing to multiple concurrent projects of varying size, complexity, and timelines. The incumbent is also responsible for researching and evaluating emerging technologies and standards to support the development of new capabilities and inform lifecycle and maintenance strategies for existing solutions.

Qualifications
Education :
- Successful completion of post-secondary education from a recognized institution in an Information Technology related field OR acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Experience :
- Experience working within complex systems across multiple product lines, aligned with enterprise architecture frameworks;
- Demonstrated experience designing and integrating IP-based media systems using standards and technologies such as Dante, SMPTE 2110, and other media-over-IP protocols;
- Experience with professional audio/sound systems, digital audio, video projection and display systems, AV control systems, and supporting AV networks;
- Experience in implementing assistive technology solutions to support accessibility and inclusive design;
- Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, VLANs, and related infrastructure;
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and provide expert guidance across teams and departments;
- Experience defining business and non-functional requirements using tools such as user stories, use cases, and process flow diagrams;
- Ability to design and maintain technology roadmaps that align systems and services with business goals and emerging technology trends;
- Demonstrated skill in understanding client needs, developing solutions, refining and adjusting to achieve success;
- Experience presenting technical solutions and roadmaps to senior stakeholders, with the ability to tailor communication to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Assets :
- Knowledge of parliamentary institutions and procedures;
- Knowledge of videoconferencing, streaming, and the production and operation of virtual or hybrid events;
- Familiarity with cloud services and technologies relevant to broadcasting and media delivery.
