Job Description

If you are a student enrolled in a post-secondary cooperative education program (CO-OP) and are actively searching for a work placement for summer 2024, we invite you to apply to come work where history is made!

Please note that these positions are located in Ottawa, Ontario and will most likely require students to work onsite.

We are looking to recruit multiple CO-OP students who will work on a full-time basis (35 hours per week) in the fields of study identified below. Work placements are for approximately 16 weeks starting in early May until late August 2024.  Examples of the various systems, technologies, programming languages and/or specialized software that are utilized within the House Administration are also provided below.

For screening purposes, applicants are required to clearly highlight the skills they have developed along with their field of study in their resumé.

As one of our talented coop students, you could work throughout the year in a wide range of fields such as:

  • Administrative support, client service
  • Accounting, commerce, procurement and contracting, policy
  • Communications, linguistics, graphic/web design
  • Architecture, interior design, project management
  • Engineering, computer science, data science, cybersecurity, information management
  • Broadcasting / audiovisual support
  • Corporate security
  • Compensation, talent management, occupational health and safety, labour relations
  • Trades, culinary arts

Architecture/Interior Design : Archibus, AutoCad, Autodesk Revit, Maya or similar 3D modelling applications (Blender, Autodesk 3ds Max, etc.), Adobe Photoshop.

Computer Science and Engineering (computer, electrical, software): ServiceNow, HTML 5, Azure DevOps, Azure Private/Public Cloud, CSS, PowerShell, XML/XSD, ASP.NET, jQuery, JavaScript, Exchange Microsoft 365, CSS3, CI/CD, C#, UX/UI, Agile mindset, Selenium, SQL Server 2016+.

Commerce : Business World (Unit4), CRM, Microsoft Office Suite.

Cybersecurity : SecureLink, Point Sharp, Secret Server, Azure PIM, Microsoft MIM, Android and Apple iOS Mobile Operating Systems.

Information Technology : Ansible, Windows 10 Operating Systems, Office 365, SCCM, MDT, Citrix NetScaler, Citrix XenMobile, Intune, Windows 2016/2019 server, Microsoft ADFS, Virtualization Platforms (VMware, Hypervisor, Azurestack HCI, Kubernetes), Cisco NXos.

Mathematics/Statistics : PowerBI, SAS, Tableau, R, Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Media Production and Design: Visual Studio, Java, HLS streaming, FFMPEG, Google Analytics, Azure, Adobe Premiere.

Others: Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Teams, Planner, PowerBI, Microsoft Project, Excel, Rise 360 for E-learning.

Education :

  • Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • Enrollment as a full-time student in the academic term following a CO-OP work placement (unless graduating after completion of the Co-op work placement).

Experience :

  • Experience using a variety of specialized software, systems, programming languages and/or technologies, as listed above.

Other Requirements :

  • Minimum age of 16;
  • Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid study permit (for international students);
  • Fluency in both official languages (English and French) may be required for certain CO-OP positions;
  • Some candidates will be required to work on-site for the duration of the work placement, as per operational requirements.
