We of Honey Construction Ltd are looking for a Controller with the magic touch to transform our accounting department in Ottawa. We’re looking for someone to work with our team to rebuild processes, fill-in the gaps, and evolve our entire company’s financial state to world-class.

Your Abundant Package
We will be rewarded with a(n):
$80,000 to $100,000 annual salary. Range is based on your experience, skill, and level of contribution.
Matched pension contribution plan for up to 4% of your salary (a $3,200 to $4,000 value)

Your Strategic Mission
You will lead the accounting operations.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Honey’s internal controls
Implement business strategies, plans and procedures as set forth by the President
Provide financial recommendations and ideas when new business initiatives are proposed
Attend regular strategic planning meetings and provides input and insight into the growth of the organization
Your Managerial Mission
Your experience in managing teams will be assets in this role, and you'll communicate with everyone from the President to the Executive Team to other functional areas of the business.
Work closely with the Division Leaders in the development of budgets and make improvements in the overall budgeting process
Manage and update project budgets bi-weekly, in coordination with the Division Leaders
Supervise AR and AP with our in-house bookkeeper
Supervise the preparation and filing of government remittances (HST, corporate tax, source deductions, WSIB)
Supervise the processing of payroll
Your Financial Mission
Because "God is in the details" , you will always stay on top of the details, using your organizational skills to ensure that accounting records and payments are accurate, made on a timely basis and in accordance with internal policies.
Ensure compliance with established internal controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy
Prepares and reviews cash flow forecast monthly, notifying the President of unusual items and ensuring that the company is projecting a cash positive position
Track project costs by subcontractors based on contract requirements and rectify any issues
Ensure invoices are aligned with contractual agreements and interact with suppliers to resolve any issues
Prepare, review and discuss financial statements with the President
Ensure the timely processing of all invoices and payments
Ensure proper reporting and compliance with all regulatory authorities
Prepare year-end documentation for submission to our external accounting firm
Complete and review month-end reconciliations and budget variance analyses
Qualifications

A Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)
A degree/diploma in business or finance
2+ years experience as a Controller
5+ years of accounting work experience
1+ year experience as a Manager
Analytical aptitude
Masterful communicator
Advanced skills in Excel and QuickBooks
Solid knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
Some Extra Skills That Would Be Awesome
Experience in the construction industry and/or multi-company environment
Experience with Filemaker, ProCore or other construction software
You’re tech-savvy with computers and software because you know that technology is way to execute better, faster, and cheaper
