Job Description

Job Title: Change Request Underwriter
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager – Underwriting

Position Summary:

The Change Request Underwriter plays a critical role in managing customer-initiated requests to update key loan information. This position acts as the primary liaison between HomeXpress internal departments and customers, ensuring accurate and timely processing of change requests and disclosures. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, responsive, and knowledgeable in mortgage operations practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the Change Request queue to ensure timely processing.
  • Review and analyze change requests for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives, Brokers, Disclosure Specialists, Underwriters, and management to fulfill requests.
  • Ensure all requests are completed within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Provide prompt and professional responses to internal and external inquiries.
  • Generate and send appropriate disclosure or redisclosure packages based on file status and customer needs.
  • Accurately update the system of record with changes, disclosures, and decisions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of HomeXpress loan products and underwriting guidelines.
  • Consistently meet daily production and quality performance standards.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage underwriting and industry regulations, including TRID requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and clients simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Loan Origination Systems (LOS), CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of professionalism.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in mortgage operations, preferably in underwriting or a related role.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role is based in an office environment and involves regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to move freely within the department and collaborate with other teams as needed.
