Job Description

Retford and nearby villages | £13–£14 an hour | Paid mileage | 16–30 hours a week

Bring your kindness. We’ll provide the training. Join Home Instead and enjoy rewarding  work where every visit lasts at least one hour—giving you the time to listen, build trust and support each client without feeling rushed.

We’re looking for caring, dependable people to help older adults live confidently and independently at home. Previous care experience is welcome but not essential: from your first day, you’ll receive full training, practical guidance and ongoing support from a friendly local team.

Roles are available in Retford, Ordsall, Hallcroft, Clarborough and surrounding villages, including Ranskill, Grove, North Wheatley, Woodbeck, Sturton le Steeple, South Leverton, Rampton, Laneham, Clayworth, Ranby, Gamston, Torworth, Barnby Moor, Askham, Lound, Treswell, Hayton, Kneesall, Bothamsall, Bole, Rockley, Cottam, West Drayton, West Markham, Eaton, Headon, Babworth, Welham and Bevercoates. We particularly welcome applicants in DN22 6, DN9 3, DN9 2, DN11 0, DN11 8, DN11 9, DN12 1, DN22 9, DN22 0, DN10 4, DN10 5, DN22 7, DN21 5, DN9 1, DN22 8, DN10 6, DN21 1, DN21 2 and DN21 3.

A Reliable Working Pattern

Consistent availability helps clients see familiar faces and gives you a dependable routine. The available shifts are:

  • Weekday mornings:7am -2.30pm
  • Weekday evenings: 3.45pm–9.45pm
  • Weekends: 8.00am–2.30pm and 3.45pm–9.45pm
  • Availability on  two evenings a week and alternate weekends is essential
  • Some flexibility is needed to maintain continuity for clients

  • Sharing conversation and companionship
  • Providing respectful personal care, including support with washing, dressing and bathing
  • Helping with light household tasks

  • Supporting clients with shopping and appointments

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Own vehicle with appropriate insurance for business use
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Satisfactory references from previous employers or character referees

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Health and Safety awareness or basic training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Physical fitness and mobility to support personal care tasks
  • Willingness to undertake City & Guilds-accredited dementia training and ongoing professional development
  • Reliable transport and punctuality record
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support client continuity
