Job Purpose

To support the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care by ensuring clients receive high-quality support that promotes independence, dignity, and wellbeing. The Field Care Supervisor will work closely with clients, families, Care Professionals, and office staff to maintain service quality, compliance, and excellent client outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities

Client Care & Quality Assurance

  • Support care consultations, assessments, and service reviews.
  • Complete and update person-centred care plans and risk assessments.
  • Carry out quality assurance visits and spot checks.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Conduct client introductions and ensure smooth transitions when new Care Professionals are introduced.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, their families, health professionals, and community partners.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints.

Care Professional Support

  • Conduct regular supervisions, observations, competency assessments, and support visits.
  • Mentor and support Care Professionals to achieve excellent standards of care.
  • Identify training and development needs and work with the Trainer and Care Manager to address them.
  • Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention.
  • Support new Care Professional inductions and probation reviews.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Create, update, and audit care records to ensure they remain accurate and compliant.
  • Maintain records using Home Instead systems, including Birdie and People Planner.
  • Ensure medication administration records are completed correctly and concerns are escalated promptly.
  • Support the office in achieving and maintaining CQC compliance standards.
  • Assist with audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Operational Support

  • Maintain regular contact with clients and Care Professionals.
  • Support the scheduling and client experience teams when required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
  • Assist with care delivery during emergencies or staffing shortages when appropriate.
  • Support the development and growth of the service through excellent customer care and relationship building.

Essential Criteria

  • Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience working within domiciliary care or community care.
  • Experience carrying out supervisions, observations, care plan reviews, and quality assurance visits.
  • Knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, and relevant social care legislation.
  • Experience supporting medication management and electronic MAR systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and care management software.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Flexible and organised with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional care and supporting people to live independently at home. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Dementia care qualification or specialist training.
  • Experience using Birdie, People Planner, or similar care management systems.
  • Experience working within an Outstanding-rated service.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent Health & Social Care qualification). 
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle. 
  • Safeguarding Adults training.
  • Medication administration training.
  • Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care.
  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Dementia Care qualification or specialist dementia training.
  • End of Life Care training.
  • Moving and Handling Train the Trainer qualification.
  • First Aid qualification.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in domiciliary care.
  • Experience conducting care plan reviews, spot checks and quality assurance visits.
  • Experience supporting and supervising Care Professionals.
  • Knowledge of CQC regulations and fundamental standards.
  • Experience using electronic care planning and rostering systems such as Birdie and People Planner.
  • Experience supporting clients living with dementia and other complex care needs.

Additional Information

Working Hours

  • Full-time, typically 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility required to support clients, Care Professionals, and the business needs of the service.
  • Participation in the on-call rota, including evenings and weekends, as required. 

Travel Requirements

  • This is a community-based role involving regular travel throughout Bedford and the surrounding areas.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
