Job Description

You are REQUIRED TO BE A DRIVER to apply for this position, be over 18, and live in the North Hertfordshire area.

Carers at Home Instead aims to make a difference each day for clients. The role involves showing up with a smile, making time for a chat and a cuppa, supporting with personal care, administering medication, helping with simple chores, going on outings and having fun! Just like anything you would do for your parents. You may be the only person our Client sees in a day, so if you are a kind and compassionate person, you will make an outstanding Carer!

 

On a typical day, you will be:

  • Providing companionship to build trust and friendship.
  • Providing personal care
  • Administering and documenting medication
  • Supporting clients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Documenting care activities and reporting any changes in conditions to our branch teams
  • Suggesting and participating in activities to help the client live a full life, these can be going out, finding suitable exercises, sharing hobbies, etc. The list is limited only by imagination.

Whether you have experience in a care setting or nursing home; if you have been a care assistant in the community; a private carer for a family member; or no care experience, we offer full training and support to become a qualified and confident care assistant.

Qualifications

If you have customer service, retail or hospitality experience you can transfer your skills to caring.

What you can expect when working for Home Instead

  • Full-time and part-time roles available
  • £12.00 p/h weekdays, £12.50 p/h weekends PLUS holiday pay and pension
  • 1-hour minimum client visits
  • No uniform required so you blend in like a family member.
  • Never work on your birthday
  • Mileage paid at 30p per mile plus travel time paid.
  • Double pay on Bank holidays
  • Carers and Clients are matched by interests and personality to quickly build friendship and trust.
  • Fully paid ongoing in-house training with £90 paid if the Care Certificate is completed in the first 90 days.
  • 1:1 Mentoring from a dedicated experienced Care Professional
  • Funded study for NVQ Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeship. Support with further levels available.
