Our Dorchester office was established in 2019 and our mission is to brighten the lives of seniors in the local community giving them a sense of purpose, wellbeing & worth.

Job Description

The care supervisor is the critical link between the client and our office team. You will use your skills of analysis to turn each client’s requirements into a tailor made homecare service that exceeds their expectations. If you enjoy inspiring your team and providing the very best homecare and support to customers, then this exciting opportunity could be exactly what you are looking for.

As each client is unique, every day will be different. Our priority is to support clients to live the lives that they choose, keeping them in control as far as they are able. You must have a good understanding of what people in need of homecare and support require, and of best practice in providing social care. Care supervisors will be expected to have, or to be working towards, a level 3 QCF (qualifications credit framework NVQ).

The care supervisor is responsible for setting up a detailed and highly personalised care plan for each client and making sure we deliver what we promise. This involves visiting new clients, and where they wish it, their families, to create a tailored care and support plan. Together with the care coordinator you will find and introduce a CAREGiver to a client who possesses the right skills, knowledge and personal attributes to match the clients requirements. The supervisor will then introduce the care assistant to the client and keep the client up to date with any changes.

Excellent communication skills are key to this vital role. You must be able to build trusting relationships with clients, their families, staff and other professionals such as district nurses, GPs and occupational therapists. The care supervisor has responsibility for taking new CAREGivers through the induction process and providing on-going guidance, training and supervision. You will often find yourself in the role of assessor, mentor, coach and trainer.

Care supervisors need to be compassionate and self-assured and have the knowledge, experience and ability to shape good practice whilst being prepared to challenge poor performance. You will regularly monitor the quality of service that your team of CAREGivers provide and take action to make improvements if necessary.

CAREGivers may work over the weekend or evenings so care supervisors must be able to work flexibly. You will need to be able to travel between clients' homes by providing your own transport.

Qualifications

  • Completion or working towards Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care
  • Great interpersonal skills, with the ability to build long-lasting, positive relationships with our clients
  • Bags of compassion, and a passion for organising the support of others
  • Genuine interest in becoming a part of a caring, mission led organisation, who pride themselves on delivering an outstanding service
