Our client is an established and growing educational franchise with over 90 locations in the US and is Entrepreneur’s #1 ranked Child Enrichment franchise. Through brain training, they specialize is making kids and adults of all ages measurably smarter. Their program has been proven to raise IQ by 15 points or more.

This contract position will be assisting with developing, maintaining and enhancing

a digital technology “game” platform created in HTML5/JavaScript/PHP/MySQL. The

person filling this role has a solid background in web software development, with

the ability to manage development projects and work with and oversee other

developers.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an established and growing franchise

system. This position is a full-time independent contract for at least 6 months

(possibly more), working remotely.

Responsibilities include:

• Programming and developing the digital game platform / application, primarily built in HTML5, JavaScript and PHP
• Programming and developing a digital cognitive skills assessment using the
  

  same technologies

• Programming, developing and maintaining the associated administration
  

  system (PHP/MySQL)

• Developing and ensuring compatibility in a variety of platforms including tablets and iOS devices
• Working under an existing development framework and methodology, following the lead of another developer, and taking assignments from this other developer or a project manager
• Assist in managing quality assurance for the platform, checking for issues and ensuring quality project completion

• Strong passion for technology and systems implementation and an understanding of a wide variety of technology and software, including web programming languages, design applications, web 2.0 technologies, etc.

• Minimum 5 years of experience programming with PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and XML
• Minimum 2 years of experience programming in HTML5 required
• Experience developing web-based applications
• Basic understanding of the iOS and tablet platforms and ecosystems required
• Ability to develop in both LAMP and Windows/IIS environments a plus

• Comfortable working within an already developed application and building on

  top of a completed foundation

• Ability to work in a small team with just one other developer

• Ability to “think like a user” and improve systems, proactively improve the products and provide recommendations
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to do Quality Assurance testing on own work
• Quick learner, willing and able to wear many hats
• Ability to switch gears between a variety of types of tasks and projects quickly, without becoming overwhelmed
• Strong communication skills, written and verbally 

Position is a 6-month contract with potential for extension beyond 6 months

(though not guaranteed). Position is work-from-home or other remote working

situation.
