Job Description

The Warehouse is the central hub in our supply chain, where inventory is received from suppliers and stored until its eventual distribution to clients.  The Forklift Driver is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the forklift to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, containers and trucks.  The goal is to ensure that material and goods will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  1. Unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stacking them to assigned places;

  2. Locating and moving goods to pallets or crates for storage or shipment;

  3. Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility;

  4. Identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies;

  5. Obtain copy of shipping order / manifest and transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the warehouse and yard;

  6. Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following storage control instructions;

  7. Checking loads are secure;

  8. Stacking empty pallets;

  9. Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines;

  10. Performing daily equipment checks such as fuel level, faults, etc.;

  11. Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by ensuring regular maintenance and service are being done;

  12. Comply with company policies and legal guidelines;

    1. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school or equivalent

  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills

  • Proven experience as a forklift operator

  • Attention to details and familiarity with industrial equipment

  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment

  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records

  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment

  • May be required to use RF scanner gun

  • Clean driving record and a valid forklift operator’s license

  • Forklift certification per OSHA standards

     

    Physical demands and abilities

  • Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck

  • Frequently lift up to 30 kilograms and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time

  • Having a good sense of balance

  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination

  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights

    • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
