Job Description


  1. Responsible for all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities associated with the commercialization of new products. This includes Automotive, Aero, and Commercial markets.

  2. Coordinate and lead the APQP process to maximize the success of developing and tracking multiple products or processes through its development life cycle.

  3. Coordinate all APQP activities with the QRB, NPI, Project Management, Product Development, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Operations teams to effectively transition new products and ongoing processes.

  4. Define, coordinate and lead all training activities related to APQP

  5. Perform project reviews with team members, ensure reporting is done accurately and regularly, and required deliverables are completed on time.

  6. Identify and ensure adequate and appropriate resources are assigned to all programs and projects to ensure the company’s goals for the successful completion are achieved and the customer’s needs are met. Work with various managers to secure resources so that cross functional teams can be created to ensure the successful commercialization of new product introductions.

  7. Establish key metrics to monitor the goals of APQP. Report to Operations monthly

  8. Facilitate resolving product deficiencies and problems related to APQP.

  9. Track and monitor project and program costs to ensure the financial investment and payback of the project are in line with the goals and objectives.

  10. Prepare and update applicable IATF16949 / AS9100 documents/procedures concerning APQP, program management, and NPI.

  11. Review and evaluate customer purchase orders, drawings, minor engineering changes and/or other specifications to define product quality requirements as related to APQP.

  12. Perform technical liaison function with production planning and engineering personnel.

  13. Assist Engineering/operations APQP activities such as PPAP, GD&T, FMEA, MSA, etc. as required

  14. Coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables related to supplier development with Supplier Quality.    

  15. Assist APQP activities related to engineering changes as required.

  16. Make recommendations to product engineering to improve quality of products and/or process. 

  17. Perform industrial engineering assignments of a medium degree of complexity, involving the application of engineering principles to perform analysis and evaluation in support of plant engineering activities

  18. Observe the Hitchiner code of conduct, safety and quality principles.

  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

  20. Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.

  21. Must be capable of delivering on commitments in a timely and efficient manner.




  1. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering. 5-7 years or equivalent knowledge / experience.

  2. Must have prior experience in implementing APQP process.

  3. Must have a working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO/ITAF16949 and AS9100.

  4. Must possess good communication and organizational skills.

  5. Previous metalworking / manufacturing experience is preferred.

  6. Computer literacy is a must, including competency in general MS Office applications, technical computer modeling and statistical tools.
