Job Description

Software Engineering Manager - QA / Test Automation

Location: Fully Remote, must reside in the United States 

 

Our team is growing and we're looking to add an Engineering Manager - QA / Test Automation to our amazing team.

 

Compensation:

What you’ll be doing:

You'll be leading one or more teams of individual QA engineers - and together with your team(s), working on HireVue's core system. You’ll understand customer usage and needs, as well as the requests being made of your team(s), and the impact of the two on our systems. You’ll use this understanding when coordinating work with Product Management, to design test strategies and influence how testing should happen, and when - and ultimately ensure your team(s) deliver the customer value needed. You’ll support your team(s) by removing roadblocks to their work, and communicating progress inside and outside of the team. And you’ll support the individuals you lead by understanding their unique strengths and abilities, and providing meaningful coaching and mentoring.

 

Our current tech stack is: 

Python, Django, Celery, Go, WebRTC; Frontend: React, HTML (JSX), CSS (in JS), GraphQL; Storage: PostgreSQL, S3, Elasticsearch, AWS.

For Automated Tests we use Python, PyTest, Selenium

  3. We invite you to do a Live interview using our software, so you can meet the team. You’ll learn more about us while we learn more about you.

  • Ability to influence direct reports, peers, and other leaders 

  • Experience in balancing the needs of, and identifying solutions among, parties with differing viewpoints

  • Ability to enforce process where needed, while being agile and flexible where possible

 

In addition to leading, you will: 

  • Brainstorm, design and implement software testing solutions. Effectively document your work for consumption by your team

  • Assess how the team is performing and how to deliver customer value more effectively

  • Communicate effectively with team members on:

    • Test strategy

    • Process improvements

    • Best practices the team should adopt

  • Continuously delivering high quality products and features, working in tandem with Engineering Team, Product Managers and UX Designers.

  • Ensures next steps are taken within the QA process for escalated production issues and hot fixes to avoid them in the future

  • Owning components of the testing system, working in tandem with Engineering and Product Managers

    • Collaborates with Team Leads on escalations, challenges, process improvements.

    • Establish metrics and areas of measurement for the QA team

    • Grow the Automation Testing practice to develop new frameworks, tools that improve team productivity and product quality

  • Seek out customer experience details from Product Management and other organizations to improve testing processes.

 

Ideal Experience: 

  • B.S. Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years in a software engineering role

  • 3+ years in a quality assurance/ testing role

  • 2+ years engineering management experience
