Job Description

Medicare/Medicaid Specialist and Skilled Bookkeeper

As a Medicare/Medicaid Cost Report Specialist, you will participate with a team of Cost Reporting Specialists while preparing a wide range of Medicare/Medicaid entity cost reports and third-party reimbursement issues as a technical expert on reimbursement and regulatory rules.

You will prepare hospital and facility Medicare and Medicaid cost report filings, audits, settlements, and rate reviews while remaining up to date on regulatory rules and changes as they impact hospitals and affect reimbursement.

More specifically, the Medicare/Medicaid Specialist:

  • Prepares, reviews, and supports completion and filing of annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports
  • Prepares reviews of cost report tentative settlements, rate reviews, final settlements, and audit adjustments
  • Models and presents operational scenarios and related reimbursement impacts
  • Provides expertise in modeling governmental reimbursement for long-range forecast and budget
  • Completes Medicare and Medicaid cost report audits, desk reviews, and audits
  • Works with lead subject matter expert on third-party reimbursement and cost report/reimbursement regulations
  • Oversees, manages, and reviews third-party balance sheet reserves and reconciliations.
  • Manages Federal and state government reporting duties
  • Builds relationships at all levels both internally and externally, promoting a culture of collaboration

During the off-season, you will execute bookkeeping, accounting, and various accounting activities for clients and engagements. Additionally, you may be responsible for tax-related deliverables, including compliance, audit, controversy, and agency representation for multiple clients and engagements as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 or more years of direct experience in health care with prior experience with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to leadership

  • The flexibility to constantly learn and the desire to lead, grow and impact teams
