Job Description

Hexagon Lavish® is an antiartificial scientific R&D startup based in Atlanta, Georgia that has a full-time/permanent position for an Attentive Director of Research & Development

The ideal candidate will harbor the attributes and characteristics of a leader; be passionate about taking the R&D efforts of Hexagon Lavish® to the "next level"; be responsible in working with commitment and accountability; collaborate with colleagues and clients; and be diligent and agile enough to manage the dynamisms of an ever-changing industry.

The Director of R&D will "hit the ground running" with our current R&D team and continue with developing and expanding on the R&D team with extensive academic and industrial experience in building research and development-oriented products.

The Director of R&D will also be responsible for evangelizing the research and development procedures for the organization and ensure the quality of the R&D undertakings with consistency and alignment during all phases of research and development. 

The ideal candidate will have the qualifications necessary to identify and prioritize the highest value problems that the Hexagon Lavish® R&D team should solve as well as set, evaluate and communicate research and development performance against corporate objectives.

The Director of R&D will also evaluate both business and technological trade-offs and report them in a manner that product and business teams will make decisions on all final specifications. 

The Director of R&D reports directly to the the Chief Technology Officer.

Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure understanding of overall R&D strategy, business model, pipeline for efficient support
 
  • Identify and evaluate emerging industry trends and laws/regulations & communicate potential impact to R&D accordingly
 
  • Ensure R&D projects are accurately budgeted (human and capital resources) and executed on schedule, on cost, and on performance
 
  • Responsible for the quality of design and ensuring that new and modified products fulfill requirements, and delight the customer
 
  • Ensure resources are sufficient to meet needs of new product development requirements
 
  • Contribute to the identification of and suggestion of direction for research and technology projects to keep the long term roadmap pipeline well primed
 
  • Drive operational execution across the different product areas and support their interactions with cross-functional teams
 
  • Represent the product team in situations where a single representative is needed, make decisions on behalf of the team, and communicate decisions back to the product leaders
 
  • Coordinate decisions and communicate as needed to appropriate constituents
 
  • Understands industry trends and how changes influence new technology demands
 
  • Leverages technology and intellectual property as a competitive weapon for profitability and growth
 
  • Develops a meaningful, actionable, accountable and resilient innovation and growth strategy in alignment with the business strategy
 
  • Provides technology leadership and direction for the portfolio and develop a point of view on how we leverage assets to support growth in established industries / markets

Additional Information

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in science or engineering
 
  • Knows industry trends, direction and standards that guide innovative technology offerings, and uses technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business objectives

 

  • 10+ years of supervisory experience in a complex, multi-site environment high-tech/scientific R&D organization

 

  • 7 years of developing a creative footprint in contrast to a "research record"

 

  • Experienced in working with a variety of educational, research, and standards bodies to influence activities and specifications

 

  • Have the ability to analyze information, summarize findings and present them in ways easily understandable to decision-makers

 

  • Strong in analytical reasoning, data analysis, and problem solving

 

  • Harbor the ability to provide an organizational and technical vision and challenge the status quo to achieve it

 

  • Have the ability to effectively manage employees’ performance, communicate performance expectations and objectively evaluate employees’ job performance

 

  • Demonstrable vision and ability to create competitive advantage

BASE SALARY for this position is conditioned by a "24 availability-schedule" that awards a certain amount per hour.

This position is a full-time/permanent position and requires a "24 availability-schedule" that equates to a minimum of forty (40) hours per week
