Job Description

THIS REMOTE POSITION CAN BE HELD IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Boston

The Business Development Associate will qualify new leads from national brands, retailers, agencies and media companies that are interested in partnerships with Her Campus Media for marketing programs. This position will also support the Sales & Business Development Team from the pre-sale to post-sale process making this an ideal position for driven, creative, and passionate candidates to learn and grow into a meaningful career in media sales.

  • Assist the business development team in hitting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals

  • Increase quality and quantity of inbound sales leads, number of new advertisers, and ultimately sales revenue through the development of sales pipeline at the agency and brand levels

  • Work directly with New Business Team Manager to strategically identify new advertisers and pitch opportunities

  • Gain a deep understanding of Her Campus Media’s marketing services and solutions and effectively pitch and communicate partnership opportunities to potential clients over email, cold calls, and industry events

  • Conduct sales and marketing research and provide teams with regular reports on industry news, changes, and trends within the industry

  • Increase awareness of Her Campus Media within the marketing and advertising industry via conducting PR outreach, networking, and attending industry events

  • Assist business development team in day-to-day operations including campaign brainstorms, meeting preparations, CRM maintenance, industry reports, and proposal assistance

  • Assist Integrated Marketing, PR, and Campus Development teams in the development of brand event enhancements and sampling opportunities for Her Campus Media programming

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Combined 0-2 years of experience at an agency and/or in digital sales (internships count!)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including superb email and phone skills

  • Team player comfortable working in partnership with a large team of sellers

  • Comfortable with and excited to network with prospects in-person at events

  • Proven ability to build a pipeline of new business and able to articulate a process for doing so

  • Creative thinker

  • Self-starter with go-getter attitude, competitive nature, and excellent work ethic who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and is excited about working in a start-up environment

  • CRM management and DocSend and/or Media Radar proficiency helpful but not required

  • Desire to grow into a career in media and marketing sales & business development

Additionally, as part of the final round, the candidate will be invited to a live virtual mock pitch where they will present their communication skills to the Client Services Leadership Team (VP and Directors across Sales, Sales Planning, and Integrated Marketing).
