Job Description

*This role can be held remotely.*

We are seeking a creative, organized, thoughtful, growth-minded social media editor to run Spoon University’s social platforms (IG, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest), driving growth and engagement across platforms. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and content creation of all Spoon University social content, working in partnership with editors, designers, and the branded content team, reporting to the Senior Director of Content Strategy. This is a fast-paced role that requires managing a lot of moving parts, engaging with our followers, trying new innovative strategies to drive growth and engagement, and analyzing the data to make optimizations. The ideal candidate is someone who is TikTok-native, food-obsessed, and has their finger on the pulse of Gen Z, is comfortable creating content themselves and appearing on camera and knows how to photograph and film incredible food content, is equal parts creative editor and data-driven strategist, is a fast but also intentional worker, and is excited to help steer Spoon University social platforms in an ever-evolving world.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Day-to-day management, oversight, and content creation/posting for all Spoon University social platforms

  • Set social vision and strategy and work with editors, designers, and team to execute on it

  • Drive growth and engagement across platforms through testing and trying innovative approaches

  • Analyze social data, prepare reports and insights, and optimize strategy based on the results

  • Contribute newsy content to the Spoon University website, designed to perform well on social

  • Collaborate with editors, branded content team, events team, integrated marketing team to support editorial and branded content, events, and initiatives on social

  • Create original video content for social, including appearing on-camera in social content, with the ability to photograph and film mouth-watering food content, recipes, etc.

  • Availability to run social during events, which may take place during non-work hours from time to time

  • Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion through your work in order to serve our diverse audience and community

  • Keep your finger on the pulse of social trends and happenings, food and Gen Z culture, and the competitive landscape

  • Manage social media interns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years experience working in social media, preferably at a food/Gen Z digital media brand

  • Highly adept across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest

  • Demonstrated history of hitting and surpassing growth goals

  • Strong understanding of the Spoon University brand

  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills with rigorous attention to detail

  • Confidence filming and appearing in video content, e.g., Reels, TikToks, IG Lives, etc., specifically with food content

  • Ability and interest in working collaboratively with other departments including community, events, branded content, integrated marketing, design, and more

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Quick and efficient worker with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to function autonomously and complete projects and tasks without close management and supervision

  • Self-starter with go-getter attitude, positive and upbeat nature, and excellent work ethic who doesn’t mind getting his/her hands dirty and is excited about working in a start-up environment

  • Passion for Spoon University, our mission, our audience of college foodies, and the job of serving as the brand’s social lead, growing our followings, and elevating our brand
