Job Description
The Product & Engineering team at Her Campus Media is responsible for building and maintaining the engines that power our organization. If you want to be able to build really cool online experiences that enable thousands of writers to share their stories, then come join our small & scrappy team.
NOTE: Her Campus Media is a remote friendly company that said this role will be expected to at the very least travel to the Boston office one week every quarter in order to plan larger development projects and be able to have critical face time once COVID restrictions are over.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Will include but not be limited to:
Supporting & extending custom built CMS & website written in Ruby on Rails that powers SpoonUniversity.com
Owning the CI/CD process for the RoR CMS
Supporting & extending WordPress installations powering HerCampus.com and CollegeFashionista.com
Building custom integrations with 3rd party services like CloudFlare, BrandFolder, Google Ad Manager, etc.
Being a trusted technical expert for the product team and architecting creative solutions that lets the company scale in their content delivery and support for thousands of college aged writers
Customizing marketing shingle sites built on Squarespace with advanced functionality via javascript & css
Generating ad-hoc reports to support sales, marketing & management
Being an escalation point for end user issues with the CMS’s that power the HCM sites
Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years of actual development experience with at least one modern web scripting language
Ruby on Rails experience required
PHP or other web scripting languages
Front end development experience (modern CSS & JS practices)
A true polyglot will be considered a top candidate
Comfort with relational database technologies (MySQL, PostgresSQL, etc)
Familiarity with non-relational database technologies (MongoDB)
Experience with modern development tools (GIT, CI/CD, Cloud servers, etc)
General exposure to project management, sprint planning, testing plans, QA checklists and other ancillary development tasks
Ability to troubleshoot bugs in production and get to the root cause
Excellent written & verbal communication especially when explaining complex technical topics to lay team members and end users
Willingness to learn new skills and roll up your sleeves to pitch in where help is needed

Expected salary range is $70-120K depending on experience
Interview Process & Expectations
We intend to move quickly to finalize a hire. You can expect 2-3 rounds of interviews, including an initial phone screen, a programming / technical test with the Director of Engineering and subsequent interviews with the wider Product & Engineering team.
