Job Description

Her Campus Media is hiring a full-time Junior Designer to join our award-winning design team! This position is based in our Boston headquarters and begins in July 2019. The ideal candidate is creative, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment. This is a great opportunity for a team player who can apply a range of visual styles and an innovative mindset to a variety of projects.

The Junior Designer will report to the Senior Designer and work closely with other members of the design team. As a team, we collaborate across the company to conceptualize and execute original integrated marketing campaigns for the world’s top brands such as HBO, L'Oreal, JPMorgan Chase, and Chanel. We also serve a variety of in-house design needs ranging from brand identity development and marketing to editorial and social media design, all furthering our mission to reach and empower college women in every aspect of their lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support sales team through the maintenance and creation of sales materials, digital mockups and custom concept art for potential campaigns

  • Contribute designs for special editorial initiatives including infographic series, social media creative, custom content packages, gift guides, and more

  • Create original graphic designs and concepts for company’s integrated marketing campaigns

  • Art direct and photograph in studio and event settings

  • Assist with design production, vendor communication, file preparation, and print ordering as necessary

  • Write and edit compelling content for the team’s external design blog

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field
  • 1-2 years prior graphic design internship or equivalent experience

  • Mastery over Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

  • Portfolio showcasing graphic design and photography and demonstrating passion, technical excellence and creative approach to projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage with/in copywriting, production, and e-commerce related tasks when necessary

  • Ability to operate with a high level of efficiency and attention to detail simultaneously, while maintaining organized and clean files from the inside out

  • Ability to process complex, multifaceted requirements and produce a cohesive, intentional design

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and receive critical feedback well while maintaining an upbeat, proactive attitude
