Job Description

Registered Nurse -  Observation Unit

Part Time, DayShift w/every 3rd weekend

Observation is a 23 hour hold unit.  16 beds with ability to go up to 30 beds.  4:1 nurse patient ratio.  

New Grads Welcomed.  Preferred Candidates who focus on Team Work and being able to prioritize easily. This is a fast pace environment and continually changes.

Role Overview

As a Registered Nurse at Genesys Health System, you will use your professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide comprehensive care to patients. You will work within the framework of the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner's Domains of Nursing Practice to ensure clinical competence, compassion, and patient-centered care. Your role is critical in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate the development of a multi-disciplinary plan of care to ensure appropriate length of stay, resource use, and quality outcomes.
  • Provide patient care that respects individual rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, safety measures, medications, and self-care, ensuring effective communication and understanding.
  • Administer medications, IVs, and blood products, and perform procedures such as dressing changes, catheterization, and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Monitor patient responses to interventions, recognize acute changes in patient conditions, and respond appropriately to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with case managers and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate referrals for continued care.

 

Qualifications

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
