Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant | Surgery OR | Days
Location: Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
Status: Full-Time | Days
Schedule: 7:00am - 5:30pm
Setting: Outpatient and Inpatient | Adult and Geriatrics
On-Call/Weekends: Yes On-Call, No Weekends
OR Required: Yes
Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health Macomb Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Surgery OR Team. This role focuses on providing perioperative surgical care, including assisting in the operating room and performing procedures consistent with training, experience, and credentialing. The position offers a weekday schedule with on-call responsibilities but no weekends, providing the opportunity to work closely with surgeons and the interdisciplinary surgical team. Proficiency in wound closure is required, OR First Assist experience required, and robotic proficiency is preferred.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in wound closure required
- OR first-assist experience required
- Robotic proficiency preferred
- NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
- Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
- National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
- BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)
Credentials:
Education & Training
- Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
Licensure
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).
Certification
- PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
(e.g., ANCC, AANP)
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)
DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure
- PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
- NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
