Job Description
Schedule: 3-12 Hour Shifts from 6:30p-7a; Weekend and holiday requirement
Location: Henry Ford Jackson
Provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to women and newborn patients while demonstrating clinical leadership and accountability for patient outcomes. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to develop and execute individualized care plans. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient and family outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient conditions, identify nursing diagnoses, and develop comprehensive care plans aligned with clinical standards and patient goals
- Implement direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, patient education, and family support specific to women's and newborn health
- Delegate and supervise nursing tasks appropriately, ensuring quality and compliance with established protocols
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record, maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information clearly to healthcare team members, physicians, and other clinical staff
- Identify variances from expected patient outcomes and actively participate in implementing corrective solutions
- Maintain current clinical knowledge in women's and newborn nursing through ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) must be willing to enroll in an accredited BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of start date. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience in a clinical setting.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized patient care plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based nursing practice and professional development
