Job Description

Status: 24 hours per week

Shift: Rotating

As a Medical Transcript in Pathology, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of anatomic pathology case accessions. You will support pathologists, clinicians, and laboratory staff by transcribing clinical histories, triaging cases, and maintaining critical patient information. Your work directly contributes to the quality and timeliness of patient diagnoses and treatment plans.

What You Will Do:

  • Accession anatomic pathology cases by accurately typing clinical histories into information systems.
  • Print cassettes and triage a variety of cases and materials.
  • Transcribe pathology reports using laboratory information systems with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Perform rapid data entry, ensuring good spelling, grammar, and proofreading for completeness.
  • Follow up with customers as needed to obtain missing information.
  • Code diagnoses into lab and patient information systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency in accurate and rapid data entry with good spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to transcribe pathology reports using laboratory information systems with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Competency to learn and use information systems and dictating equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomic terms.
