**Responsibilities:**

• Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments and develop individualized treatment plans using ASAM Patient Placement Criteria and DSM-IV-TR diagnostic standards.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing therapeutic techniques to help patients explore problems, identify solutions, and work toward recovery goals.
• Determine appropriate level of care and treatment placement for patients across Detox, Rehab, PHP, and specialized programs.
• Develop and coordinate aftercare plans, matching client needs to community resources and facilitating appropriate referrals.
• Manage patient caseloads, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
• Conduct didactic sessions and provide patients with information about chemical dependency, recovery resources, and support services available within the organization and community.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to patient crises in coordination with the treatment team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, including psychiatrists, case managers, and EAP personnel, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Serve as a clinical leader by mentoring new staff, instructing students, conducting in-services, and contributing to professional development within the addictions field.
• Maintain current knowledge of the field through attendance at staff meetings, in-services, and review of professional literature.
• Demonstrate professional communication, active listening, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining high-quality clinical outcomes and organizational standards.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• State of Michigan license in respective discipline required.
• Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office.
• Basic Life Support Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 120 days of hire/transfer date required.
• Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office. 
• One or more of the following required: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).
• Licensure/certification monitored by health ministry Central Credentialing Office

Education:

• Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology required.

Work Experience:

• Experience in chemical dependency treatment setting required.
• 5 years work experience in chemical dependency counseling inclusive of experience obtained under a Bachelors degree preferred.
