Job Description
Responds to patient inquiries regarding healthcare accounts receivables across a multi-facility integrated healthcare delivery system, which includes all hospital and professional billing associated with Henry Ford Health inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, laboratory, radiology and employed physicians. Communicates effectively with patients, colleagues, providers, system operational staff, supervisors, and managers. Independently manages complex call escalations received from team members and ensures maximum efficiency in a high-volume billing Call Center. Assists with training and mentoring new and existing staff and provides support to level I team members.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Four (4) years of Call Center experience
- At least one (1) year of experience as a Patient Services Specialist I
- One (1) year of billing and coding experience
- Six (6) months of remote work experience
- Internet connection with minimum 25 Mbps speed (wired connection required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and basic technical troubleshooting
- Ability to guide patients through online payment methods
- Strong communication skills with patients, colleagues, providers, and management
- Ability to remain calm and de-escalate difficult callers
PREFERRED:
- Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Billing, Coding, or related field
- Healthcare or medical office customer service experience
- Knowledge of insurance billing processes including primary/secondary coverage, co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays
- Experience training and mentoring team members
