Job Description

Schedule: 3-12 Hour Shifts from 11am-11:30pm; Weekend and holiday requirement

Location: Henry Ford Medical Center-Plymouth

Provides clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality, compassionate patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient education.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care for patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions, utilizing evidence-based clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills
  • Communicate pertinent patient and family information clearly and effectively to interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care delivery
  • Delegate and supervise nursing tasks and patient care activities to support staff while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Identify variances from established patient care goals and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective solutions
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and compliance
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while demonstrating compassion and respect for patients and families during vulnerable moments

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Minimum 1+ years of clinical RN experience in an Emergency Department or ICU setting preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to develop and implement effective nursing care plans
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Proficiency in nursing process methodology: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ability to delegate, supervise, and document patient care and education
  • Problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify and implement solutions for patient care variances
