Job Description

Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital features advanced surgical suites and operating rooms for inpatient and outpatient procedures, where our OR nursing team plays a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of quality, compassionate patient care in a dynamic surgical environment.
  • Apply the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure seamless coordination and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement solutions that enhance patient care and surgical outcomes.
  • Deliver expert professional nursing care in the operative setting, advocating for patients undergoing surgical and invasive procedures.
  • Perform specialized scrub functions with precision, expertly selecting and handling instruments and supplies to support surgical procedures.
  • Execute circulating functions with keen attention to detail, monitoring and communicating patient condition while managing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Provide direct surgical support to the operating physician, assisting with critical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and optimal patient positioning.
  • Prepare and maintain operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment to the highest standards of safety and readiness.

 

SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8-Hour or 10-Hour Day Shifts, Occasional weekend, holiday and on-call shifts

Up to $5,000 Sign-on Bonus

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. 
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
  •  Health care provider certification (BCLS).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-years of previous OR experience highly preferred.
