Job Description

General Summary: RN Clinical Coordinator, Inpatient Nursing - Oncology

Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital, Full Time Nights, 7pm-7:30am 36 hours/week

Under the direction of the Director or Manager of Unit, provides comprehensive clinical support at the unit level including:

 

  • Providing direct patient care and clinical support including intravenous line placement, blood draws, and facilitating admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Responding to clinical emergency situations and addressing issues that jeopardize patient rights, safety, and customer service
  • Coaching and mentoring patient care unit staff in clinical practice, critical thinking, and customer service skill development
  • Coordinating bed utilization and resource management while collaborating with the interdisciplinary oncology team to support evidence-based care delivery
  • Monitoring patient outcomes and clinical indicators to support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with oncology-specific protocols and standards of care
  • Facilitating communication and coordination between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers
  • Supporting staff orientation, competency validation, and ongoing professional development specific to oncology nursing practice
  • Maintaining accurate and timely patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements

 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred. Requires two to three years of relevant acute care nursing experience. Must have excellent communication skills, strong facilitative interpersonal skills, and excellent problem solving skills. Requires Michigan Nursing License. ACLS preferred but not required. Health care provider certification (BCLS) required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Extensive walking, standing, lifting, pushing, and the like may be necessary. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a patient care environment with possible exposure to communicable disease or unpleasant patient care tasks. Occasional exposure to disgruntled/unsatisfied patients and/or their families.

Nursing Units 4C and 4D are adult inpatient units consisting of a 17-bed Medical-Surgical unit (4C) and a 15-bed Medical-Surgical/Oncology unit (4D). Together, these units provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for a diverse population of medical, surgical, and oncology patients. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care, promoting positive patient outcomes, and supporting patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.
