Our client in the global professional services industry is seeking an accomplished Transport Networks Optimisation Manager with a strong background in LTE and 5G Mobile Backhaul technologies to join their team. This role requires a high degree of expertise in Transport Network Design, Configuration, Planning and Optimisation, with a focus on end-to-end (E2E) optimisation and troubleshooting capabilities to address systematic network anomalies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Transport Network Operations, be proficient in using vendor-specific OSS tools, and possess strong analytical skills for deep analysis of network KPIs.

What you will do:

  • Transport Network Design and Optimisation: Lead the design, configuration, planning, and optimisation of LTE and 5G transport networks. Establish comprehensive plans for Site, Cluster and Network-level optimisation to ensure optimal performance and capacity management.
  • KPI Analysis and Troubleshooting: Perform in-depth analysis of Transport Network KPIs, identifying patterns and root causes of network anomalies. Provide E2E optimisation and troubleshooting to resolve complex issues, ensuring network stability and performance.
  • OSS Management: Utilise hands-on experience with Transport Network OSS and management systems to monitor, analyse and optimise network performance. Work with vendor-specific OSS tools to manage and resolve network-related alarms and issues.
  • IP-MPLS Configuration and Optimisation: Implement and optimise IP-MPLS configurations across different equipment vendors, ensuring effective management of IP dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. Configure QoS settings to prioritise critical traffic and maintain optimal network performance.
  • Microwave Radio Management: Configure and optimise microwave radio systems, handling related alarms and ensuring reliable backhaul connectivity for mobile networks.
  • Big Data Analysis: Process and analyse large datasets to extract actionable insights for network optimisation and capacity planning. Use data-driven approaches to identify network trends and make informed decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network planning, operations and support to align optimisation efforts with overall business objectives. Provide expert guidance and support to ensure seamless integration and operation of transport networks.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on network performance and optimisation outcomes.

Qualifications

  • MSc. degree in Technology, preferably in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in E2E transport network optimisation, preferably in a 4G/5G mobile backhaul environment.
  • Advanced expertise in LTE & 5G optimisation and extensive hands-on experience with Transport Network OSS and Management Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IP dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and QoS configuration.
  • Proficiency in IP-MPLS configuration and optimisation across various equipment vendors.
  • Familiarity with TWAMP counters and the ability to interpret results.
  • Solid understanding of microwave radio configurations and related alarms.
  • Experience in processing and analyzing big data to support network optimisation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams.
