Heimstaden Group is looking for a commercial and strategic senior counsel to support the Group Legal function within corporate, investment and stakeholder management, supporting Heimstaden Group and its assets under management within a broad legal scope.  

The full-time position is based in Copenhagen and reports to Director Legal – Investment and Finance. 

Job Description

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of the Group Legal function, acting as a trusted advisor that plays a key role in the intersection of management, business operation and control functions. You will work closely with the contractual framework of both Heimstaden Group and that of its assets under management, including Heimstaden Bostad, and ensure the interest of relevant stakeholders, including shareholders.  

You will join an international organisation with a high level of professionalism. The role requires both strategic oversight and the ability to translate stakeholder priorities into practical solutions that work in day-to-day operations and fit the business.  

Key responsibilities  

  • Contribute to the Group Legal function – acting as a trusted legal and business advisor to management and other stakeholders on legal, governance and compliance matters. 

  • Uphold detailed knowledge of the contractual framework and business model to ensure legal advice supporting the strategic goals of Heimstaden and its assets under management.  

  • Maintain trust from external stakeholders through solid governance, compliance and reducing operational risk.  

  • Work strategically with legal structuring to remove roadblocks, secures material savings and enables scalable growth. 

  • Work and advice within primarily Corporate Law, M&A and Investment, including corporate structuring and strategy, but also within ECM Law, Finance Law, Asset Management. 

  • Management of JVs (coordinating deliveries). 

  • Support investor relations, including preparing and reviewing presentation material, providing input on structuring, etc. 

  • Manage transactional work, including due diligence, project management, drafting and negotiating transaction documents and advice on transactional risks. 

  • Support implementation of the company’s policy framework and internal governance documents, as well as training programs. 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:  

  • Holds a masters degree in law (Swedish, Danish or Norwegian law). 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience from reputable law firm, and/or relevant inhouse positions. 

  • Has solid experience with Corporate, corporate structuring, M&A and joint ventures. Investment, finance, governance, compliance and ECM experience is meriting but not required. 

  • Works strategically and in a structured manner, with high professional integrity. 

  • Has strong collaborative and pedagogical skills with the ability to build trust across management levels and functions, acting as a trusted advisor. 

  • Demonstrates strong business understanding and the ability to balance business needs with implementation, follow-up, quality, and accountability. 

  • Communicates clearly and effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
