Heimstaden Group is looking for a strong, business-oriented leader to further develop and anchor our Governance & Compliance function. This is a central leadership role responsible for ensuring a robust governance and compliance structure in close collaboration across the organisation and the nine countries where we operate.

The full-time position is based in Copenhagen and reports to the Chief Legal Officer.

Job Description

As Governance & Compliance Manager, you will lead and further develop the company’s governance and compliance work. You will play a key role at the intersection of management, business operations, and control functions, ensuring that policies, processes, and behaviours support the company’s strategy, goals, values, and regulatory obligations.

You will join an international organisation with a high level of professionalism. The role requires both strategic oversight and the ability to translate company priorities into practical solutions that work in day-to-day operations and fit the business. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Maintain and further develop the company’s policy framework and internal governance documents to ensure they remain relevant and comprehensive 

  • Drive and coordinate compliance efforts across the organisation, including supporting implementation in the countries 

  • Advise management, business units, and country organisations on governance and compliance matters 

  • Prepare decision materials for the Board of Directors and committees, and contribute to effective management reporting and governance forums 

  • Promote a strong governance and compliance culture through clear communication and accessibility across the organisation 

  • Contribute to the Governance Report and Sustainability Report as part of the annual reporting process 

  • Collaborate closely with Group Legal, Country Legal, Internal Audit, Group Finance, Group People & Culture, and other key functions 

  • Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into relevant initiatives and business-adapted improvements 

  • Lead the Group Whistleblower system and handle reported cases with professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity 

  • Deliver internal training related to the Code of Conduct and the values Dare, Care & Share, including relevant policies 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Holds a relevant academic degree, for example in law, business administration, auditing, or a similar field 

  • Has solid experience with governance, compliance, or related control and oversight functions in a larger company or regulated organisation 

  • Works strategically and in a structured manner, with high professional integrity 

  • Has strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trust across management levels and functions 

  • Demonstrates strong business understanding and the ability to balance business needs with implementation, follow-up, quality, and accountability 

  • Communicates clearly and effectively in English, verbally and in writing
