In December 2024, we commenced providing health, mental health and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network.  Our team, which includes nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals, offer a wide range of healthcare services to detainees, such as triaging, medication, wound management, immunisation, and other clinical procedures.  HCA also introduced a Virtual Care Centre (VCC), a 24/7 service that provides remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations, helping to enhance onsite care for detainees.

Job Description

  • Employment Type: Part-time and full-time positions available
  • Compensation: Above award hourly rates, plus applicable penalty rates

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team committed to delivering person-centred, high-quality, and safe mental health care. You will be responsible for conducting mental health assessments, developing and implementing care plans, delivering therapeutic interventions, and monitoring the mental health and wellbeing of individuals in detention.

This is a fantastic opportunity to provide a wide range of mental health services, including crisis intervention, risk assessments, medication administration, psychoeducation, and support for individuals with complex mental health needs. The role focuses on delivering compassionate and trauma-informed care that respects the dignity, culture, values, beliefs, and rights of detainees, while contributing to a supportive and inclusive healthcare environment.

Let's talk about you!:

  • You will be an AHPRA Registered Nurse (General unrestricted registration) with a minimum of five (5) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, including direct patient care in a mental health or related operational setting (non-Telehealth).

    You will demonstrate strong skills in prioritising tasks, working independently, and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary mental health team.
