Job Description

The role of the Mental Health Nurse will play a crucial part in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and key project stakeholders to establish a Mental Health Framework for patients in a health centre environment. The stand up of this service will require Mental Health SME input into all aspects of developing a Primary Health Mental health service including but not limited to eMRS workflows, training and education, policies and procedures and clinical treatment pathways. The role will additionally be supporting the standup of the Virtual Care Centre clinical operations department. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison between the clinical team and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) team for the development and enhancement of the electronic Medical Record System (eMRS). 
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to develop evidence-based clinical pathways and guidelines for the treatment and management of common mental health conditions with the client.  
  • Provide training and education sessions to staff members within the centre on topics related to mental health awareness, suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, and other relevant subjects.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing with post-graduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing   
  • Current unconditional AHPRA registration  
  • Min 5 years of clinical experience working in Mental health preferably in a forensic setting

Experience:  

  •  Strong understanding of mental health assessment tools, diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based treatment modalities.  
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems, preferably in a healthcare setting.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.  
  • Demonstrated ability to write clinical policies and procedures
