This search is for a client of HDG, The Redemptorists, Timonium, MD.  This is a unique opportunity for a Director of Nursing that serves retired Fathers/Priests.  The Redemptorists site is located on the 5th floor of the Stella Marais Senior Living Community in Lutherville - Timonium, MD area. 

Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Healthcare Administrator and the Rector at St John Neumann Residence, the Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing the medical care of the men.

 

Qualifications

1.              Possesses a current license in good standing.

2.              At least ten years of experience in the healthcare field (e.g., nursing management, home health, Medicare), preferably in a long-term care setting and serving a geriatric population.

3.              Broad clinical and assessment skills and knowledge to implement appropriate nursing practices for various health issues and concerns in a timely manner.

4.              Broad knowledge of healthcare budgets, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, medications, durable medical equipment, and other health insurance requirements.

5.              Demonstrates proficiency in MS Word and Excel, as well as internet utilization.

6.              Able to travel using employee’s personal vehicle, if needed. Proof of valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and current and ongoing personal auto insurance.

Additional Information

Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

1.     Maintain and implement a person-centered care plan for each Confrere that addresses both clinical and non-clinical needs. This requires:

a.     Maintaining a nursing care plan that aligns with Confrere’s medical diagnosis or prescribed medical treatment 

b.     Performing and delegating nursing tasks within the scope of tasks that can be performed by a Registered Nurse in a timely and organized manner

c.     Collaborating and directing nursing staff, as well as overseeing and/or supervising the performance and completion of tasks

d.     Coordinating services (i.e. appointments, transportation, housekeeping, food services, etc.)

e.     Upon Province Leadership’s decision to initiate a transition/transfer, assist as needed with coordination and supervise accordingly

2.     Maintain nurse staffing levels that are appropriate for the healthcare needs of Confreres. This requires:

a.     Notifying the Province Healthcare Administrator of staffing needs and changes

b.     Scheduling staff, including arranging for staff coverage for call-outs and reassigning staff as necessary

c.     Working additional hours beyond the normal shift schedule (i.e. emergency, on-call), upon request

d.     Participating in the hiring and onboarding of nursing staff

3.     On a scheduled weekly basis and as applicable, communicate with Healthcare Administrator and Nurse Managers at Province Community residences to promote The Redemptorists’ vision regarding retirement and Continuum of Care.

4.     Maintain timely communication with all key individuals on the healthcare team of each Confrere (e.g. Confrere, Rector, Province Healthcare Administrator, healthcare professionals) to facilitate timely exchange of information, decision making, and implementation for the purpose of ensuring an accurate account of care delivery and clear communication. This includes:

a.     Performing comprehensive documentation and supervise the completion of comprehensive documentation by nursing staff

b.     Utilizing communication mediums (e.g., EMR, EHR, shift-to-shift report, daily meeting, memo)

c.     Submitting formal and informal reports

 

5.     Assure and enhance the quality of care that Confreres receive by: 

a.     Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Province Healthcare Administrator, develop, adhere to, and affirm HR and nursing services policies and procedures

b.     Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Province Healthcare Administrator, develop and implement effective training programs (e.g., orientation, competencies, in-services)

c.     Under the direction of the Province Healthcare Administrator, perform evaluations of nursing staff, as well as developing performance improvement plans to improve staff contribution to the department and overall organization

d.     Attend trainings and educational programs as requested

 

6.     Assist in the preparation of the nursing budget and control measures, designed in conjunction with the Province Healthcare Administrator, and operate within those determined guidelines. 

 

7.     In conjunction with the Province Healthcare Administrator, resolve workplace issues in accordance with grievance policy and procedures.

 

8.     Performs all other duties as assigned by Rector and Province Healthcare Administrator.
