Job Description
He aha te tūranga - About the role:
As Treasurer for the Whangarei Committee, you’ll help keep an eye on the finances that support the important mahi (work) we do locally to strengthen our hapori (community).
You’ll work closely with the Chairperson and committee to manage our budget, make sure invoices are paid, and help plan for community projects and events. You’ll also liaise with our national Finance team, helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a volunteer role where your skills in budgeting, organising, and communicating will help support better hauora (wellbeing) outcomes for our local whānau.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe - About you:
You’re someone who’s comfortable working with budgets and simple financial processes, and you enjoy keeping things organised and ticking along nicely.
You don't need to be an accountant, but you do need to be confident with numbers, computer systems, and managing basic financial tasks.
You will bring:
- Good financial literacy and strong attention to detail
- Confidence using computers (we’ll show you the systems you'll use)
- A friendly, proactive attitude and the ability to communicate well with others
- A passion for supporting your hapori (community) and helping others thrive
Most importantly, you’ll share our values — Mahi Tika (doing the right thing), Tū Tahi (standing together), Whakapai Ake (making it better), Mahi Pono (acting with honesty), and Whakaaro Nui (being open-minded).
