An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strong relationship builder who is passionate about fundraising and motivated to make a meaningful impact in local communities.

In this role, you will lead and grow community fundraising initiatives across the Central Region (from Palmerston North through to North Waikato, including Hawke’s Bay and Bay of Plenty). Reporting to the Fundraising Manager – North, you’ll play a key role in strengthening grassroots fundraising, building long-term partnerships, and bringing our impact to life within the community.

What you’ll be doing

  • Grow and support community fundraising activity at a local level, including delivery of the Annual Appeal

  • Develop and manage long-term relationships with community groups, local businesses, and key stakeholders

  • Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities, partnerships, and community-led initiatives

  • Coordinate and support fundraising events and activities, ensuring a positive and well-organised experience

  • Act as a key ambassador for Hato Hone St John — sharing compelling stories that bring our impact to life and inspire support

  • Present to community groups, businesses, and stakeholders to build engagement and encourage ongoing support

  • Collaborate closely with the wider fundraising team to share insights, align activity, and deliver on team goals

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with Hato Hone St John Community Engagement Managers for local fundraising initiatives whether these are led by Area Committees or the Fundraising team

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A natural relationship builder with proven experience developing long-term partnerships, ideally with businesses and community groups

  • A confident communicator and engaging storyteller, able to connect people to purpose and clearly articulate impact

  • Comfortable presenting to groups and representing an organisation in the community

  • Experience in fundraising, account management, community engagement, or a similar relationship-focused role

  • Experience coordinating or supporting events, ideally in a fundraising or community setting

  • Proactive and opportunity-focused, with the ability to identify and grow new fundraising initiatives

  • Well organised and self-motivated, able to manage activity across a broad geographic region

This is a hybrid role and can be based anywhere between Pukekohe and Ōtaki, with regular travel across the region.
