Job Description

He aha te tūranga - About the role:

Our 3 Steps for Life programme has been designed to have a major impact on the health of our community, and help New Zealanders gain the confidence and awareness to take action when someone is experiencing a cardiac arrest. 

While we have a strong team of volunteers across the motu, we are inviting interested people in the specific areas below to join us, and help deliver these life-saving skills to local communities. 

NORTH

  • East Coast (Gisborne to Dannevirke)

SOUTH

  • West Coast 
  • Central Otago
  • Queenstown 
  • Oamaru
  • Southland

If you do not live in one of the above areas, please join our Talent Community instead so we can be connect when we need volunteers in your area. 

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver one-hour awareness sessions on basic CPR and AED skills
  • Coordinate and connect with local and national clients, stakeholders, local iwi, and community groups to promote, arrange, and deliver 3 Steps for Life Awareness Sessions
  • Actively promote the 3 Steps for Life programme

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:

No prior experience is required, however, there are certain things that are needed to be successful in this role:

  • A confident communicator (especially to groups of people)
  • A genuine desire to contribute to better health outcomes for New Zealanders
  • Friendly, approachable, encouraging and a good listener
  • Reliable and able to work on your own
  • Reasonable level of technical proficiency (manage power point presentations and apps)
  • You must be at least 18 years of age and have access to reliable transport (including travelling to sessions and picking up resources)
  • Experience communicating and teaching to a group would be useful, as well as established community connections and networks.

Time Commitment:

This is a flexible volunteer role that can fit easily into your life and around other commitments. You will deliver a minimum of 6 sessions over a 12 month period - but would love it if you could deliver more!

Due to the nature of these roles, we are only able to consider volunteers who are able to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
