Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive – Ambulance Operations, the Head of Ambulance Operations Effectiveness is responsible for oversight of performance management and planning to support effective service delivery across Ambulance Operations.
Join the Ambulance Operations senior leadership team in this exciting opportunity to drive strategic planning, enhance performance, and strengthen workforce retention and engagement across both volunteer and paid workforces.
Key responsibilities:
Support the achievement of contractual targets and setting and achieving internal targets by providing evidence-based data to support decision making.
Ensuring Ambulance Operations is meeting the requirements of its core contracts with ACC and Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora in support of the Hato Hone St John Commissioning Team activities and discussions.
Drive medium to long term workforce (pipeline and skill-mix), operational Ambulance Activity and Resourcing Model (AARM) and lead the strategic planning which also accounts for our future workforce and infrastructure requirements.
Drive the use of business intelligence systems to optimise resource planning and long-term needs analysis across ambulance operations relating to both ambulance assets and our workforce.
Lead initiatives that measure, sustain, and enhance the safety and welfare of ambulance operations personnel.
Report on the performance, KPIs and provide related insights across the service delivery functions – making recommendations about strategic and tactical operational initiatives to enhance performance across all areas of ambulance operations delivery.
Provide high quality and accurate analysis in a timely manner to identify and remediate operational performance issues.
Embed and continue to enhance the Global Rostering System (GRS) capabilities to deliver an effective rostering framework for all of Ambulance Operations.
Qualifications

Are you a commercially savvy, technically skilled leader who thrives on building strong relationships and delivering impactful, tailored insights?
- Minimum of five year’s applicable senior leadership/management in a health-related organisation – ambulance sector/functional experience would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of issues relating to health equity and the importance of delivering Hato Hone’s obligations against Ti Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Proven success in managing people, performance, and resources to drive improvement, innovation, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and advocate at a senior level with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in creating concise, insightful reports to inform and meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
