We're looking for passionate professionals to join our team in Auckland or Christchurch as Clinical Support Officers (Secondary Triage portfolio). As a vital member of the team, you'll be enhancing patient outcomes by performing Secondary triage calls; clinical advice and support; and guidance to our operational road staff and Ambulance Communications team in the Hato Hone St John communication centres.
This is a full-time permanent position working 42 hours per week, between Monday to Sunday based in either Auckland or Christchurch. Performing secondary triage to maximise the clinical safety of the pending dispatch queue and offer real time clinical advice and alternative clinical options to our lower acuity patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaising directly with other members of the wider Clinical Hub such as the Deputy Medical Directors and the Patient Care Plan team
- Making and supporting clinical treatment decisions virtually
- Working collaboratively with Ambulance Communications and CSO staff across the country
- Taking a lead role in demonstrating and promoting clinical best practice
- Being a clinical leader within the Intergrated Operations Centre
Qualifications

You will possess excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills and be able to apply these in a variety of settings. Work alongside like-minded people in a collegial, supportive, and autonomous environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current Authority to Practice at Paramedic level and have experience in Emergency Ambulance Service
- Proven clinical knowledge and strong written skills
- Good organisational skills and be adaptable to changing circumstances
- The ability to lead and develop others
- The ability to work independently with initiative and drive
- Well-developed communication and people skills
- Strong decision-making capabilities
- A collaborative team player
- Technically savvy with a good understanding of the MS Office suite

Competitive salary. Entry rate for qualified Paramedics is $84,169 ($38.54 gross hourly rate). Increasing to $92,887 after 4 years' service. Further information on other qualifications can be discussed on enquiry.
Clinical Support Officers will receive an allowance of $17,068.77 in addition to base Paramedic rate.
Penal rates will be paid for unsocial hours (nights and weekends)
Our service covers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Clinical Support Officer your shifts will be 12-hour shifts (days, swings and nights)- in a four on and four off roster with allocated EAS road time.
