Job Description

Join Hato Hone St John and play a key role in driving clinical safety and excellence across our services. As a Clinical Safety Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring patient safety, working across both Ambulance Operations and Community Health to implement best practices and conduct complex investigations.
This is a permanent position, working 32 hours per week.
- Promote clinical best practices aligned with the Clinical Practice Guidelines and our education curriculum.
- Conduct patient safety reviews, adverse event assessments, and investigations into professional concerns to maintain patient safety and uphold the integrity of paramedic practice.
- Provide expert clinical advice in key forums, ensuring patient safety processes are embedded across all services.
- Work with our Clinical Safety and Risk Manager to scope and implement quality improvements aimed at enhancing patient safety across Hato Hone St John.
- Share your knowledge and experiences to help teams develop and maintain best clinical practices, ensuring excellent patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe - About you:
- You must be a Registered Health Practitioner, holding a current APC (e.g., Paramedic) and a Bachelor of Health Science (or equivalent).
- A strong understanding of clinical safety issues, with experience in a related support role within an ambulance or out-of-hospital environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and diplomatically.
- Proven experience working in dynamic teams, with the ability to manage priorities and lead through influence and mentoring.
- A positive outlook, with a focus on managing conflict and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to supporting the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and New Zealand’s diverse communities.
