Job Description
Are you passionate about creating positive employee experiences and fostering an inclusive, high-performing workplace culture?
Hassell, a leading global design practice, is looking for an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join our Sydney studio on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. We are also open to part-time arrangements for candidates seeking flexibility.
In this role, you will partner closely with our Studio Leadership team to support our people and help shape a workplace where everyone can thrive. You will bring a strong generalist HR background, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to delivering people initiatives and practical day-to-day support.
What you’ll do
- Partner with studio leaders to implement people practices that support business goals
- Participate in group initiatives and projects as part of the broader People team
- Support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to offboarding
- Guide performance and development conversations, review cycles and career growth initiatives
- Provide advice and support on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and workplace concerns
- Contribute to employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, and retention initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and internal people policies
- Build trusted relationships across the studio and help maintain a positive, inclusive culture
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
- Solid experience in an HR or People & Culture Business Partner role
- A background in professional services, design or a creative environment is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of HR best practice, employee relations and performance management
- In-depth understanding of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES) and modern awards
- Experience partnering with and influencing senior leaders
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion
- Confidence working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
