Job Description
The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving the growth of Hassell’s mixed-use development portfolio globally.
We are looking for an experienced and well-connected Business Development Manager to drive growth across our mixed-use, commercial, and residential portfolio. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic BD professional who understands the property sector and has deep connections with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Property Developers in Australia, with the ability to gain insight into emerging opportunities across Southeast Asia and the UK.
Based in Sydney, this role will work closely with the Head of Clients and Future Business, Principals, and BD teams to identify and secure new opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position Hassell as a leader in mixed-use property sectors.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Drive market and portfolio research to identify business opportunities, industry trends, and competitive insights, ensuring a strategic and well-informed pipeline development process.
- Build and strengthen relationships with property developers, industry partners, and key decision-makers.
- Lead strategic pursuits, leveraging your market knowledge to win projects.
- Develop compelling bid strategies, working closely with design teams to position Hassell for success.
- Co-facilitate client planning workshops with Sector Leaders, aligning our expertise with industry trends and client needs
- Coach teams on best-practice work-winning—from bid development to engagement strategies.
- Ensure our Leaders represent Hassell at key industry events, staying ahead of market shifts and new opportunities.
- Support business planning and pipeline management, ensuring alignment with overall firm objectives and growth ambitions.
- Deliver regular performance reports on new business activities and achievements.
Qualifications
This role is for a proven business development leader who can identify, secure, and grow opportunities across public and private sector pursuits—from precinct-defining mixed-use developments to high-profile commercial and residential projects.
Skills and Experience
- A proven track record of success in business development, with significant experience in architectural design, property, or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategic growth, secure high-value projects, and cultivate long-term client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of commercial office, hotels, residential, and mixed-use developments.
- Established Australian industry relationships with Tier 1 & 2 developers and strategic partners.
- Networked with key industry groups, such as the Property Council of Australia.
- Expertise in client engagement, negotiation, and strategic business growth.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Strong budget management and commercial acumen.
