Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Researcher to lead research for our healthcare, education, and sciences sectors. In this role, you will work closely with the leaders of those sectors to undertake research that furthers our understanding of designing places for healthcare, education, and science. Your primary outputs will be whitepapers, blog posts, and presentations that communicate your findings to the wider industry.We’re looking for a Senior Researcher to lead research for our healthcare, education, and sciences sectors. In this role, you will work closely with the leaders of those sectors to undertake research that furthers our understanding of designing places for healthcare, education, and science. Your primary outputs will be whitepapers, blog posts, and presentations that communicate your findings to the wider industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a research agenda in collaboration with sector leaders.
  • Execute research projects end-to-end, including study design, data gathering, analysis, and communication.
  • Employ a range of research methods such as interviews, surveys, and desktop research.
  • Further Hassell’s reputation as a thought leader in the design of places for healthcare, education, and science.

Qualifications

A master's degree or higher in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Social Sciences, or another related field.

  • Research experience: Several years' experience leading research projects from inception to completion.
  • Publication and Presentation: A strong track record of publishing research in both academic and mainstream outlets, with demonstrated experience in presenting findings at industry conferences or similar platforms.
  • Sector Knowledge: Prior experience doing research on the built environment and a deep understanding of one of the following industries: healthcare, education, or science.
  • Research Methods: Proficiency in a variety of research methods, including qualitative and quantitative approaches.
  • Collaboration: Experience working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and tailor research outputs accordingly.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex research findings into clear, actionable insights.

Preferred

  • Thought Leadership: Experience presenting and publishing research publicly and an interest in further developing your reputation for expertise in this area.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in InDesign and other relevant design software to support the creation of visually compelling research reports.
